About Me

Bo Maxwell Stevens

Hello, I’m Bo. Originally from Colorado, I served in the US Air Force before settling in Arizona to pursue higher education. As an environmental scientist with a focus on biology, I am passionate about understanding how the natural world works and how we can learn from it to ensure the long-term sustainability of humanity while minimizing our impact on the planet.

I am currently working on translating large datasets in microbial ecology into easily understandable concepts that can be used in global ecosystem models. My focus is on using advanced techniques in precision agriculture, high-performance computing, and AI to better understand the natural world and find solutions to some of life’s biggest questions.

With my background in environmental science and biology, I am particularly interested in exploring the biodiversity of microbial communities and their roles in ecosystem functions. My previous research has centered on the biodiversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria in the Serengeti, and I am now expanding my work to investigate how these fungi, bacteria, and other microbes can be harnessed to increase crop productivity and reduce the environmental impact of agriculture.

Through my work, I aim to help ensure the long-term sustainability of humanity while minimizing our impact on the planet. By combining cutting-edge technologies with a deep understanding of the natural world, I believe we can make significant progress towards this goal.

When I’m not working, I enjoy exploring the great outdoors, whether it’s biking in the mountains or touring the country on my bicycle. I’m also interested in understanding public perceptions and skepticism of important topics like GMOs, climate change, and AI.
